Cold Snap Grips Central Region

A cold snap hit the nation’s central region overnight, pushing temperatures down about ten degrees below zero.

Morning lows fell to minus 15 degrees Celsius in Cheolwon, Gangwon Province, and minus nine degrees in Seoul. Southern cities also recorded sub-zero temperatures. Gwangju posted minus three degrees and Busan minus two.

The Korea Meteorological Administration says much of the central region will remain below zero on Saturday afternoon. Seoul’s afternoon high will be around minus four degrees.

The cold weather is expected to continue through Sunday into early next week.
