A group of scientists has set up a comprehensive system to predict what kind of flu viruses are capable of hitting the nation.

According to Korea University Monday, its team of scientists and researchers at the National Institute of Health established an Influenza Sequence and Epitope Database (ISED) that includes data on the genome sequence of some 16-thousand flu viruses that broke out in around 20 countries worldwide.

The database includes information on flu viruses that have appeared since 1997 and also includes related data collected since 1968.

The result of the scientists’ research was recently published in an international magazine, Oxford’s “Nucleic Acids Research” journal.
