LG Display says it has developed a liquid crystal display television that can greatly reduce 'after-image' problems, which have been the biggest drawback to LCD TVs.
The company unveiled Tuesday 'Trumotion 480 Hz (hertz),' which it says is the world's first TV panel with a 480 refresh rate per second, accelerating the advent of ultra high-speed images, without sacrificing picture quality.
The latest development can produce images four times faster than the existing 120 hertz panels and two times faster than the 240 hertz panels.
The new LCD panel display boasts a lower motion picture response time of four milliseconds, eliminating motion blurring for fast moving images and enabling a realistic, crystal clear picture.
The impressive response rate, a measure of how fast-moving images can be displayed, has drastically reduced the lingering after-image effect on the TV screen and makes it easier on the viewer's eyes. After-image occurs when a still picture is displayed for an extended period of time, causing a permanent image to appear on the display.
LG Display will showcase the panel and many other cutting-edge products it has developed at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) set to take place from January eighth to the eleventh in Las Vegas. The LCD TV will hit the market in the second half of next year.
