Seoul to House 2 Hydrogen Fuel Plants

Final plans are being drawn up for the building of two enormous hydrogen fuel plants in Seoul by early 2010. One will provide two-point-four megawatts at peak production and the other two-point-eight megawatts.

Hydrogen fuel is produced by triggering a chemical reaction on hydrogen extracted from oil and gas. The fuel is highly efficient in generating electric power and does not emit air pollutants, such as sulfur oxides.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government also plans to spend five billion won to build a hydrogen fuel charging station by the end of next year as part of a project to create a renewable energy complex.
