Gov't to Improve Emergency Medical Service

The government plans to improve emergency medical service at hospitals nationwide.

The Health, Welfare and Family Affairs Ministry said Sunday that it will increase financial support to allow emergency medical care within 30 minutes at any hospital in the nation by 2012.

Emergency medical centers will be designated in 43 counties, such as Yangyang in Gangwon Province and Uljin in North Gyeongsang Province, which have no emergency medical centers.

The government also plans to build 72 special emergency medical centers to treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
