The government has unveiled measures to develop Korea's athletic programs ahead of the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Wednesday that it will pour 390 billion won into an athletics fund over the next five years with an eye of winning at least one track and field gold medal in both the 2011 championships and in the 2012 London Olympic Games. The nation also hopes to finish among the top ten in ten athletics events during the international athletic competitions.

To achieve the goal, the ministry plans to set up an athletics promotion committee to oversee the fund.
