Figure skater Kim Yu-na took the top spot in the women’s short program at Skate America, the season’s first Grand Prix event.

In Everett, Washington, Saturday, Kim earned a score of 69.5 points, beating Japan’s Miki Ando by 11.7 points.

Kim will compete in the free skating program Monday afternoon.
