Gov't to Invest 5 Tln Won in Green Energy Development

The government will invest five trillion won over the next five years to develop key green energy sectors in an effort to counter climate change.

The plan was approved at a government meeting on Friday chaired by Prime Minister Han Seung-soo.

Solar batteries, full-sized wind generators, high-efficiency lighting and fuel cell cars are among the several environmentally friendly technologies which will be developed.

The government added that it plans to introduce a carbon tax and emissions trading system, although a timeline has not been set as of yet.
