A survey shows that Koreans found the national baseball team’s final match against Cuba the most impressive part of the Olympic Games this year.
The team defeated the Latin American country and won the gold medal for the first time in Olympic baseball.
In a poll conducted by Gallup Korea, nearly 50 percent of 800 respondents showed a preference for the baseball team's efforts.
Korean swimming sensation Park Tae-hwan's performance in the 400-meter freestyle came in second with 38 percent of the vote.
About 51 percent of those surveyed named Park as the most impressive athlete, followed by other gold-winning athletes like female weightlifter Jang Mi-ran, judoka Choi Min-ho and slugger Lee Seung-yeop.
Among foreign athletes, U.S. swimming prodigy Michael Phelps took first place.
More than 60 percent of respondents said that Korea’s performance in the Beijing Olympics exceeded expectations.
