Beijing Olympics to End Sunday with Grand Finale

The Beijing Olympics is scheduled to end its two-week-long run with a grandiose closing ceremony on Sunday evening.

The three-hour closing ceremony will be held under the theme of harmony, friendship and happiness.

The ceremony, put together by Chinese film director Zhang Yimou -- who also took over preparations for the opening ceremony -- will feature more than seven thousand people.

The ceremony will be divided mainly into three parts with world-renowned singers jointly taking the stage, including renowned tenor Placido Domingo.

At the ceremony, Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong will hand over the Olympic flag to the mayor of London, which will host the next Olympic Games in 2012.

More than ten-thousand athletes competed in 28 events to secure three-hundred-two gold medals at the Beijing Olympics.
