Korea Beats Cuba in Olympic Baseball Prelim.

Korea defeated reigning Olympic champion Cuba to advance to the baseball semifinals of the Beijing Games as the top ranked country of the eight-nation preliminary.

At Wukesong Baseball Field in Beijing, Korea came from behind to beat Cuba 7 to 4. Korea scored five runs, all while having two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, to secure the win.

Starting pitcher Song Seung-joon allowed just three in six innings.

The nation has now posted six straight wins in Olympic competition and will face the Netherlands on Wednesday. But Korea has secured a spot in the semifinals regardless of the result of the match against the European country.

The win marked Korea's first victory over Cuba since 1999.
