Korea Adds Bronze to Olympic Medal Tally

South Korea beat Austria to win the bronze medal in the men's team table tennis competition at the Beijing Olympics Monday.

One day after the women’s table tennis team secured the bronze, Korea’s Ryu Seung-min, Oh Sang-eun and Yoon Jae-young defeated the Austrian team 3-1.

Also on Monday, the country's baseball team continued its winning streak, defeating Taiwan 9-8 to advance to the semifinals.

Lee Jung-joon became the first Korean athlete to advance to the second round of the men's 110-meter hurdles, while women's hockey team beat South Africa 5-2, recording its first win after four consecutive losses.

In men's handball, the Korean team lost to Russia 29-22 but had already secured its spot in the quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, Kim Deok-hyeon came in tenth among 19 athletes in the men's triple jump qualifying round for Group A, with 16.88 meters.

With its additional bronze medal in table tennis, Korea ranks seventh after Germany in the total medal tally, with eight gold medals, nine silver and six bronze.
