Baseball Team Advances to Semifinals, 1 Bronze in Table Tennis

South Korea's baseball team continued its winning streak Monday, beating Taiwan to clinch a spot in the semifinals of the Beijing Olympics baseball tournament.

Kang Min-ho brought in Lee Yong-kyu in the seventh inning with a single for a 9-8 win, the fifth consecutive win at the Olympic baseball.

South Korea will face Cuba and the Netherlands during the remaining preliminaries, but Monday's win allowed Korea to reach the semifinals regardless of the results of those games.

Earlier in the day, South Korea grabbed a bronze medal in the men's team table tennis event after beating Austria 3-1.

Women's hockey team beat South Africa 5-2, the first win after four losses.

South Korea ranks sixth after Germany with eight gold, nine silver and six bronze medals.
