Korea to Seek 8th Gold in Beijing Olympics

The mixed badminton doubles team will play world champion Indonesia for the gold Sunday on the tenth day of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Yong-dae will face off against Indonesia’s Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir 8:30 p.m.

The women's table tennis doubles team salvaged a bronze medal in the Beijing Summer Olympics Sunday, beating Japan, 3-0.

Kim Kyung-ah, Dang Ye-seo and Park Mi-young dominated the Japanese after losing the semifinal to Singapore 3-2.

Korea had won the gold in the event from the 1988 to 2000 Olympics. In 2004, however, the women's doubles team won the silver and Kim Kyung-ah the bronze.

Dang, formerly named Tang Na, was born in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun and reportedly gained Korean citizenship last year.

In men's field hockey, Korea beat Belgium, 3-1. With two victories, one tie and one defeat, Korea can make the semifinals if it beats Spain Tuesday.

In men's table tennis, Oh Sang-eun, Ryu Seung-min and Yoon Jae-young defeated Hong Kong in a group match, 3-1. They will play for the bronze medal Monday.
