Korean Athletes Continue Stellar Performances in Beijing

On the sixth day of the Beijing Olympic Games, Korean athletes continued stellar performances in their quest to win more medals.

Korea's Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Kyung-won nabbed the silver medal in the women's badminton doubles, after becoming the first Korean pair to advance to the finals.

In men's badminton doubles, Korea's Lee Jae-jin and Hwang Ji-man beat their Japanese rivals 2 to 1 to advance to the semifinals.

Korea's women handballers beat Sweden to make a step toward the quarter finals.

The Korean ping-pong squad also trounced Sweden 3 to 0, while male hockey players came from behind to defeat China 5 to 2.

With five gold medals, six silver and one bronze, Korea ranks third after China and the United States in total medal tally.
