The men's Olympic soccer team was dominated by Italy Sunday in a 3-0 loss, dealing a huge blow to Korea's second-round hopes.
In the second Group D match for both teams, Korea showed an inability to penetrate the powerful Italian defense or prevent the Italians from creating numerous chances to score.
Italy struck first with a blast from Giuseppe Rossi in the 15th minute. Tommaso Rocchi added another goal in the 31st minute after taking a cross in front of the penalty box and shooting the ball through.
The closest Korea got to scoring was in the 44th minute, when Park Chu-young's header from a Kim Dong-jin cross hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Riccardo Montolivo scored the final goal in stoppage time when he put back in his own shot that had bounced off the right post.
