South Korea's Choi Min-ho has won a gold medal in the men's under-60 kilogram judo competition.
On the first day of the judo competition on Saturday, Choi beat Ludwig Paischer of Austria by ippon.
He had advanced to the final after beating Ruben Houkes of the Netherlands also by ippon.
Earlier in the day, Jin Jong-oh won a silver medal in the men's 10-meter air pistol shooting competition.
Jin scored a 684.5 in the competition held on Saturday afternoon, giving the nation its first medal in the Beijing Olympics.
The gold medal went to Chinese shooter Pang Wei who scored a 688.2. North Korea's Kim Jong-su won the bronze medal with a score of 683.
Jin will compete for a gold medal in the 50-meter air pistol shooting event on Tuesday. He won a silver medal in the event during the Athens Olympics in 2004.
Meanwhile, South Korea's swimming hopeful Park Tae-hwan has advanced to the final of the men's 400-meter freestyle competition with a time of 3:43:35.
