Heat Wave Continues despite 'Onset of Autumn'

Sweltering summer heat will continue on Thursday, which is the first day of autumn under the lunar calendar.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said most of the country will see clear and hot weather Thursday, forecasting afternoon highs to be between 28 to 34 degrees Celsius.

The weather agency issued heat wave advisories and warnings for most of the country including Seoul, Daejon, Gwangju and Daegu.

Limited areas, including Jeju Island, will experience a tropical night in which the temperature stays above 25 degrees Celsius throughout the evening.

The heat is expected to continue Friday, as morning lows are forecast to be between 20 to 24 degrees Celsius and afternoon highs anywhere from 27 to 33 degrees.
