Korean Athletes Arrive in Beijing

The main delegation of Korean athletes to the Beijing Olympics arrived in China Friday.

Korean Olympic Committee President Lee Yeon-taek has vowed to win at least ten gold medals to finish in the top ten, as Korea did in the previous Olympics four years ago.

After a brief welcome ceremony, the athletes went to the Olympic village, unpacked and began training.

An official ceremony marking the athletes' arrival to the village will take place Tuesday.

Swimming sensation Park Tae-hwan, the archers and the soccer team will leave Seoul Sunday, while the men's handball and boxing teams fly to Beijing on Wednesday.

The 29th Summer Olympics kicks off August eighth.
