Gov’t to Bring in Foreign Meteorological Experts

Minister of Environment Lee Maanee says the government is seeking to bring in foreign meteorological experts from advanced nations such as the United States, Britain and Japan.

Lee told reporters the nation needed to secure experts and nurture talents in order to improve the accuracy of the nation’s weather forecasts.

However, the minister said Japan turned down the offer and the U.S. and Britain have not replied yet.

He also noted that the weather services must diversify to meet the needs of people’s multifaceted lives. He mentioned the need to introduce competition in the weather forecast sector.
