The nation will likely produce an influenza vaccine starting next year.

The Green Cross on Tuesday said that its researchers successfully produced GC501, a major vaccine ingredient.

The pharmaceutical company also said that the Korea Food and Drug Administration recently authorized the launch of a related clinical trial using the ingredient.

The nation has always been an importer of influenza vaccine. Moreover, the vaccine ingredients are currently produced by only about ten pharmaceutical companies around the world.
