Koreas Play to Scoreless Draw in World Cup Qualifier

South Korea and North Korea played to a scoreless draw in a World Cup qualifier held Sunday in Seoul.

South Korea secured the top spot in Asia’s Group Three due to its higher goal differential, even though it tied with North Korea on points with three wins and three draws in their regional group.

Ten countries will compete in the final Asian qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The preliminaries will start in September and continue for nine months.

The draw for the final round of Asian qualifiers will be made next Friday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ten teams will advance to the final qualifying rounds, with two teams from each group getting World Cup tickets. The fifth team will play a top-seeded squad from Oceania for the last remaining ticket.
