Soccer Team Enters World Cup Final Round

The national soccer team has reached the final Asian qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup, thanks to a 3-1 defeat of Turkmenistan Saturday.

Both South and North Korea have progressed to the final ten-team round to decide Asia’s berths at South Africa 2010.

Kim Do-heon was the hero in the victory over Turkmenistan, scoring all three of his country's goals, including one penalty.

The win also gave South Korea eleven points with three wins and two losses, meaning it can finish no lower than second in Group 3, regardless of what happens in its game versus North Korea June 22nd in Seoul.

The North reached the final stage with a 2-0 win over Jordan Saturday.
