The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Thursday announced the results of scientific experiments conducted in space in April by Korea's first astronaut, Yi So-yeon.

The ministry said that Yi sorted out DNA believed to be related with aging in space in a fruit fly experiment, and it was concluded that aging is accelerated in space.

The ministry also noted that purer crystals of porous materials such as charcoal and sponge can be obtained in space than on Earth.
