The national soccer team defeated Jordan 1-0 in a World Cup soccer qualifier Saturday, securing the top spot in Asia's Group Three.

Striker Park Chu-young scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick in the 24th minute at King Abdullah Stadium in Amman.

South Korea now has two wins and two draws in its regional group for the 2010 World Cup finals, and is tied with North Korea in points. The North had defeated Turkmenistan, 1-0, hours earlier.

The South, however, is leading the group on goal difference.

South Korea will travel to Turkmenistan Saturday and return home to play North Korea on June 22nd.
