The number of food poisoning cases and the spread of infectious diseases will significantly increase in Korea by 2080 due to rising temperatures.

A researcher at the Korean Institute for Health and Social Affairs made the prediction at a seminar marking the seventh Food Safety Day.

The researcher said soaring temperatures will increase the number of food poisoning cases by six-point-three percent by 2020, 15-point-eight percent by 2050 and 26-point-four percent by 2080.
