Korea’s leg of the Olympic torch relay will begin Sunday. The Beijing Olympic torch has been traveling around the globe under heavy security as it confronted protests in response to China’s crackdown on Tibetan protesters last month.
The torch will arrive at Incheon International Airport at one a.m. Sunday. The relay in Seoul will start at the World Peace Gate in Olympic Park at two in the afternoon. The torch bearers will run 24 kilometers to the Seoul Square.
The police say some eight-thousand officers will line the relay route and will crack down on any attempts to disrupt the relay.
On Saturday, Nagano, Japan received the flame. During the relay, three men were arrested as they tried to disrupt the relay.
The torch relay in Nagano was not disrupted as three thousands riot police officers blocked pro-Tibet protestors waving Tibetan flags.
