Gov't Vows Full Support for Olympics

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has vowed to do its utmost to promote Korea at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

The ministry will set up a "Korea House" in Beijing to promote Korean culture, arts, tourism, sports and information technology. It will also try to persuade foreign athletic teams to use training facilities in Korea ahead of the Olympics.

The ministry says teams representing 23-hundred athletes from 32 countries have expressed an intent to train in Korea as of Friday.

A foundation aimed at globalizing sports will be set up to support Koreans' entry into the International Olympic Committee and other global organizations. It will also work to promote the Korean sport of taekwondo.
