China says about 100 world leaders are planning to attend the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics on August 8th.

China’s Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei told reporters Monday that there are an increasing number of leaders who want to take part in the event.

Recently, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice informed the Chinese government that U.S. President George W. Bush and his family wanted to attend the ceremony.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband also told Beijing that British Prime Minister Gordon Brown would be visiting China for the sports event.
