The state-funded Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute said Thursday that it has developed new technology that can transmit a large amount of information wirelesslessly much faster than existing technology.

The institute says the so-called "Giga-Fi" technology can enhance data transmission rate up to six gigabits per second by using the 60-gigahertz frequency bandwidth.

The current wireless Internet employs a frequency bandwidth of five to six gigahertz.

The institute says that with the new technology, one can download a five-megabyte MP3 music file in 0.013 seconds from a distance of ten meters.
