Koreas to Discuss National Flag, Anthem Issues

The two Koreas will hold working-level talks Tuesday on arrangements for an inter-Korean World Cup soccer qualifier to be held next month in Pyongyang.

Korea Football Association (KFA) spokesman Yoo Young-chol said Monday the two sides will meet the next morning in the North Korean city of Gaesong to narrow differences on the issues.

Pyongyang wants to display a neutral flag depicting a unified Korea and to play the traditional folk song "Arirang" instead of the two countries' national anthems. But Seoul maintains the soccer match to be held March 26th is organized by the world governing body FIFA, which says the anthems and flags of both teams should be used.

KFA plans to ask FIFA to mediate if no agreement is reached.
