KAIST World Best in Systems Engineering

A Korean university has been named tops in the world in systems and software engineering by the prestigious Journal of Systems and Software.

The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology's number-one ranking was based on the number of articles published in six leading journals over a five-year period from 2001.

Taiwan's National Chiao Tung University ranked second, followed by Norway's Simula Research Laboratory, Seoul National University and Carnegie Mellon in the United States.

In the top scholar category, KAIST professors Chung Chin-wan ranked eighth and Kim Myoung-ho ninth.

Chung has published significant studies on computer databases, the Web and multimedia. Kim's research has focused on databases and information processing.
