Korean Scientists Develop New Nano Technology

A domestic research team says it's developed a nano capsule that can be injected into the human body for cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The team claims to have improved the structure and properties of nano particles by heating them in silica wrapping at high temperatures of over 500 degrees Celsius. The silica wrapping must be peeled off after the heat treatment.

The researchers said they succeeded in making nano capsules through the process. The technology can be used for making nano materials with various functions while maintaining their nano structures.

The team was led by Seoul National University biochemical engineering Professor Hyun Taek-hwan.

The group's findings were published in the U.S.-based international journal Nature Materials.
