Soccer Team Opens EAFF with 3-2 Win

The national soccer team beat China 3-2 in a thriller to open this year's East Asian Football Federation Championship.

In Chongqing, China, Sunday, Korea extended its 30-year undefeated streak against China that began with a 1-0 victory in the 1978 Bangkok Asian Games.

An injury-time goal by Kwak Tae-hwi of the K-League's Chunnam Dragons gave the Koreans the win. Park Chu-young of FC Seoul scored the other two for the Taegeuk Warriors, including the opening goal on a header in the 42nd minute.

Korea is 41st in the world rankings and China is 75th.
