Korea Football Association President Chung Mong-joon has asked North Korea to recognize the South Korean flag and national anthem during an inter-Korean World Cup soccer qualifier slated for March 26th in Pyongyang.

The Grand National Party (GNP) lawmaker on Friday told reporters that South Korea raised North Korea’s national flag and played its national anthem many times in previous matches held in the South.

Chung said there's no reason for North Korea not to do the same, urging North Korean authorities to think wisely on the matter.

He also promised efforts to narrow differences on the matter through various diplomatic channels.
