KT to Launch New Satellite Mugunghwa 5

The nation's largest communications service provider will launch another satellite in June 2010.

KT said it will launch the satellite Mugunghwa-Six in preparation for a jump in the demand for digital broadcasting.

The new satellite will replace the current Mugunghwa-Three, whose mission will end December 2011.

With the Mugunghwa-Three, KT currently provides satellite TV broadcasting service to two-point-one million subscribers nationwide.

The Mugunghwa-Six will allow the company to meet the increasing demand for high-definition broadcasting, as terrestrial broadcasting must go fully digital by 2013.
