Boseong Green Tea Chosen as Space Food

Korea’s first astronaut will be able to enjoy Korean green tea in space.

Russia’s Institute for Biomedical Problems approved Sunday ten kinds of Korean food that astronauts could eat at the International Space Station.

Included among the ten was green tea from Boseong, South Jeolla Province.

Boseong green tea has been recognized for its long shelf life.

The green tea was developed as suitable for space food by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute in cooperation with the Korea Food Research Institute and green tea producers.

Korea’s first astronaut Ko San will live off ten kinds of Korean-style space foods during his ten-day stay in space. He will take his first step into space aboard the Russian Soyuz spaceship on April eighth.
