Samsung SDI says it's developed the world’s largest display using active-matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) technology.

The Korean firm developed the 79-centimeter AMOLED display using low temperature poly silicon technology.

The company says the newly developed high-definition product is far better than liquid crystal displays and other AMOLED displays in the market.

It noted the new display's outstanding contrast ratio between bright and dark spots of 10-thousand-to-one. That's 30 times higher than the contrast ratio for liquid crystal displays currently on the market.

The new product will be unveiled next month at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
