Korean figure skating star Kim Yu-na has taken first place at the Grand Prix final short program with the season's highest score.
The skating star had advanced to the Grand Prix finals leading the field of six skaters and performing last in the competition.
Kim failed her triple jump at the beginning but sailed through the rest of her routine with flawless spirals and spins.
She received the highest short program score for this season at 64-point-six-two. That's more than two-point-eight points ahead of American skater Caroline Zhang who came in second.
The Korean skater's archrival Asada Mao of Japan came in last at 59-point-zero-four after a few missteps on the ice.
Kim will compete Sunday morning in the free skating event to try for a second gold.
This is the second straight year Kim is competing in the Grand Prix finals since her debut at the senior world championships last year.
