A proposed new Asian golf tour could incorporate Korea, China, Japan and Australia.

Reuters quoted Asian Tour CEO Kyi Hla Han as saying Japanese and Australian golf officials are seeking to form the "OneAsia Tour" from 2009, which would equal the PGA of the United States and the EPGA of Europe.

Han said that if the new tour is launched, it will significantly help advance Asian golf.

The existing Asian tour mostly comprises Thai, Indian and Malaysian golfers, and is much less competitive and lucrative than the American or European tours.

Han said the new tour will include Korea, Japan, Australia and China, countries having great market potential.
