Figure Skater Kim Also Wins Cup of Russia

Figure skating star Kim Yu-na has won the women's short program at the Cup of Russia, the fifth of six meets on the International Skating Union's Grand Prix circuit.

Kim, who won the Cup of China two weeks ago, was one of three women to try a triple-triple, and the only one to succeed. She totaled 63-point-50 points from her two minute and 50 second performance.

Kim was followed by Yukari Nakano of Japan and Kiira Korpi of Finland.

Kim will win a berth to compete in the Grand Prix finals if she succeeds in earning high scores during her free skating program set to be held Saturday.

Kim won the bronze medal at the 2007 world championships in Tokyo.
