The Ministry of Science and Technology has appropriated a budget of five billion won for research on ways to counter infectious diseases that affect both humans and animals.

As a result, the amount of the related budget for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will increase by one billion won, while that of the Ministry of Health and Welfare will rise by two billion won next year compared to this year.

The allocated budget will be used to expand research and development for measures to counter three contagious diseases- avian influenza, brucellosis and rabies.
