Warm Winter Expected Despite La Niña

The nation is expected to see average or above average temperatures this winter despite the effects of the weather anomaly, La Niña.

The Korea Meteorological Administration says that weather experts from Korea, China and Japan have forecast lower-than-average water temperatures in the eastern Pacific due to La Niña.

It said that while La Niña would normally lower temperature and precipitation in East Asia, due to the greater effect of global warming, the region should see normal precipitation and somewhat higher average temperatures during the winter.

Still, the weather service projected a greater possibility of cold waves and heavy snowfall.
