Seven major energy users in the Asia-Pacific region have pledged to strengthen cooperation against climate change at a regional meeting in New Delhi, India.

The Commerce Ministry said that South Korea, the United States, China, Japan, India, Australia and Canada made the pledge in a joint declaration adopted at the second Asia-Pacific Partnership Ministerial.

They agreed to develop education programs and promote information exchanges to share and spread knowledge on energy efficiency as part of their efforts.

The partnership already has eight task forces covering areas such as power generation, steelmaking and home electronics. Under the new agreement, it will launch 18 flagship projects to tackle climate change.
