S. Korea Beats Syria 1-0 in Olympic Qualifier

South Korea beat Syria one to zero Wednesday in the final Asian qualifying round for next year's Beijing Olympics.

The only goal of the match held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium came from Kim Seung-yong, who scored a header in the ninth minute.

With Wednesday’s victory, the national team has won three consecutive games in Group B. It currently leads the group with nine points as it pursues a sixth straight Olympic berth.

South Korea will meet Syria again on October 17th and face Uzbekistan exactly one month later. Its final match will be against Bahrain on November 21st.
