S. Korea, Japan to File Complaint over Men's Handball

South Korea and Japan have decided to file a complaint with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accusing referees of making unfair calls in the Asian men’s handball qualifiers for next year's Beijing Olympics.

Officials from the two nations made the decision Thursday during an emergency meeting in Toyota City where the tournament is under way. The officials decided to present to the IOC specific cases showing that the Asia Handball Federation (AHF) tried to help its chair country Kuwait win its matches using Middle Eastern referees.

The two nations also plan to request that the federation hold separate tournaments in East and West Asia for the Asian men’s handball championships next February. They will also request that the respective winners of the two proposed regional tournaments hold a final match in a third country.
