Forty domestic technologies have been designated as key national technologies subject to government controls on their export.

The export control list was finalized during an industrial technology protection committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on Tuesday.

Based on their effect on national security and economy, four electrical and electronics technologies, along with eight automobile technologies, and six in steel and seven in shipbuilding were chosen for a total of 40. Included on the list are the FINEX steelmaking technology and the methods required to design, manufacture and assemble under 80 nano-level precision DRAM semiconductors.

Firms wishing to export designated key technologies, via sale or transfer, must acquire government approval and report their transactions.
