S.Korea Advances to Next Round of Asian Cup

The national soccer team has advanced to the next round of the Asian Cup after beating Indonesia.

In the 34th minute of the first half, Kim Jung-woo scored giving South Korea a 1-0 victory in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In other Group D matches Saudi Arabia defeated Bahrain 4-0, which means South Korea will advance to compete in the round of eight as the group’s second place finisher, with a record of one-win, one-draw and one defeat.

The team’s chances for the next round looked bleak after an unexpected defeat to Bahrain over the weekend.

The South Korean players will face Group C’s Iran on Sunday for a chance to move on to the semifinals.

In upcoming matches, Japan will play Australia, Iraq will go against Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia will face Uzbekistan to determine the three remaining semifinal slots.
