The government plans to take measures to prevent leakages of key industrial technologies to foreign countries.

At an inter-agency meeting in Gwacheon on Wednesday, the government discussed ways to designate a total of 44 technologies in automobile, steel, electronics and other major industries as the country’s “core” technologies.

The measures focuses on strengthening control over these technologies, including requiring state approval of related exports, in order to prevent their leakages.

The government plans to announce the basic plan and core designations in mid-August.
