Ex-Soccer Coach at Opening of Soccer Field for Blind

Former national soccer team coach Guus Hiddink took part in a dedication ceremony Wednesday for a soccer field for the blind in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province.

The Hiddink Foundation, named after the soccer coach following the national team’s advance to the semifinals during the 2002 World Cup, has built and donated the special sports facility.

With support from Papa John’s Pizza Korea, the foundation decided to build the field in 2005 in order to encourage children at the Seongsim Home for the Blind in Chungju and others who are visually impaired to build confidence while playing soccer.
